— SYNTHETIC TETRAPEPTIDE · PINEAL BIOREGULATOR

Epitalon.

A synthetic tetrapeptide derived from epithalamin, the natural pineal gland extract, first developed in Soviet gerontology research. Studied for telomere elongation, melatonin regulation, and life extension — among the most compelling longevity peptides in the scientific literature.

— THE RESEARCH STORY

The Longevity Signal From the Pineal Gland

Khavinson isolates the active tetrapeptide sequence from epithalamin, a bovine pineal extract used in Soviet anti-aging medicine since the 1970s.

In 2003, Khavinson's group reports Epitalon activates telomerase in somatic cells — the first peptide shown to lengthen telomeres in human cell culture.

Long-term animal studies in rats and fruit flies show consistent lifespan extension of 20–30% — among the most replicated findings in the programme.

A synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) corresponding to the active sequence of epithalamin — water-soluble, acid-stable, and documented to penetrate cell nuclei and interact directly with chromatin structure.

— AN HONEST READING OF THE DATA

The telomere data speaks for itself.

Most evidence originates from Khavinson's own institute — independent replication is limited.

— REGULATORY LANDSCAPE

Epitalon's Jurisdiction Gap

In the UAE, research-grade peptides occupy a defined regulatory category distinct from licensed medicines. Compounds sold under this classification — including those offered by Dubai Peptides — are intended exclusively for qualified research applications, not for human administration.

Epitalon's regulatory history is concentrated in Russia, where it was developed by Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation over four decades of clinical and laboratory research. It has been used clinically there under Russian frameworks — but those approvals do not transfer. No IND has been filed with the FDA or EMA, and no Western clinical trial programme is currently underway.

1980s / SOVIET ORIGINS

Khavinson's institute develops Epitalon from bovine pineal extract; used clinically in Russian gerontology programmes.

2003 / TELOMERE PUBLICATION

First peer-reviewed report of peptide-induced telomerase activation in human cells draws global longevity research interest.

2010s–PRESENT / GLOBAL MARKET

Enters the longevity supplement market; a compounding market for Epitalon has since emerged in the UAE, operating outside the research-use classification described above.
